Emirates Labour Market Award:
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Presidential Courthas, launched its first-ever award to honour companies of all sizes for their performance in the labour market industry. This award aims to enhance the market by encouraging competition, productivity, and employee well-being in the private sector, by awarding businesses for three main categories: Establishments, Business Services Partners (Divided between Domestic Workers Recruitment Agencies, Employment Agencies, and Business Service Centers), and Outstanding Workforce. Each category includes subcategories and criteria to cover different aspects of labour market practices. These subcategories deal with specific matters of the industry, such as employment, empowerment, innovation, social responsibility, health and safety, and other important factors. The score of which to rate the submissions is also divided across each category, subcategory, and the criteria that submissions must meet to be eligible.

To apply for any of the Emirates Labour Market Award categories, you can head to Riyada’s official website, create an account, and then follow the instructions to apply for a category you would like to be nominated for. You can also click here to register.
Award Categories:
Submission for the Emirates Labour Market Award is open since June and will continue till the end of 31 August, and it is open to all private sectors establishments within the industry who meet specific criteria for each category. Businesses who apply have to submit both their achievements and indicators for each subcategory, with 300 words limit for each, along with supporting documents.

1- Establishments Category:
This category is directed towards establishments and their practices inside the market labour sector, their commitment to attracting skilled labour, their efforts to enhance the work environment, and the health and safety of employees.
If an establishment decided to apply for this award, 6 conditions that should be met beforehand, which are:
- The establishment has been operating in the UAE labour market for at least 2 years.
- The establishment should be in the private sector and not government owned.
- The establishment must not have been sentenced or penalized for violations of the UAE’s Labour Laws during the previous year.
- The establishment must comply with the nomination application and the award’s timeframe.
- Establishments that have previously won the award cannot participate in it until two sessions have passed since they were awarded.
- Participation is optional for establishments operating in the private sector under the MoHRE’s umbrella.
The establishments’ category follows these subcategories:
– Employment, Empowerment, and Attracting Skilled Labour
This Emirates Labour Market Award category deals with important achievements regarding their commitment to diversity and empowerment of people of determination inside the work environment. In addition, establishments can highlight here their efforts towards attracting skilled labour, recruitment planning systems, and career development strategies.
– Occupational Health and Safety:
Here, businesses can showcase the effectiveness of their health and safety measures to prevent and minimize labour injuries, whether through safety training, health insurance, and safety policies.
– Employment Relationships and Wages:
This category deals with the establishment’s relationship with their employees and how they deal with complaints and communication. Some important factors include the commitment to paying wages on time, grievance solutions, the number of violations, and communication strategy between employees and the management.
– Future-Proofing
This category focuses on establishments’ commitment to digitization and the importance of adopting innovative technologies and change analyses inside an establishment in order to adapt to the current market and prepare for future changes.
– Facilities and Work Environment
Another important indicator is employee satisfaction and happiness inside the establishment. Here, establishments should indicate programs followed to ensure employee happiness and their responsibility towards society through CSR activities.
– Encouragement and Motivation:
In this category, establishments can highlight their encouragement programs to honor and motivate employees for their suggestions, innovations, and performance. In addition, this Emirates Labour Market Award category focuses on the open channels available for workers to use and communicate their ideas and proposals, and what changes were made from these suggestions.
Establishments Awards Count:
There will be seven awards, one for the overall leading establishment, and 6 for each of the subcategories. For each award there will be 4 winners distributed based on the size of the establishments (small, medium, large, and very large), resulting in a grand total of 28 awards.
2- Business Services Partners:
This award is targeted towards business services that provide first-rate services to businesses in the UAE. It is divided into 3 subcategories, each with a specific criterion.
– Domestic Workers Recruitment Agencies:
Domestic workers agencies who apply for this award should showcase their support towards workers and ensure their rights and for their families as well, in addition to efforts to provide quality services and high performance.
– Employment Agencies:
Employment agencies must showcase their strategies and efforts towards recruiting, empowering, and attracting skilled labour, as well as programs set in place to improve employee relationships and encourage them.
– Business Service Centers:
This category highlights the practices done by business service centers towards employment and empowerment, as well as enhancing the relations between employees and the center, while establishing mechanisms and programs to encourage and motivate workers.
Business Services Partners Award Count:
For each category (Domestic Workers Recruitment Agencies, Employment Agencies, and Business Service Centers) there will be 1 winner, totaling 3 winners.
3- Outstanding Workforce Category:
This award is aimed to honor those who strived to present outstanding efforts in their field and showcased exceptional growth in their careers through training and innovation in the labour market industry. Workers in the skilled, unskilled, and general labour categories can be nominated for this award by showing their achievements, innovation, learning efforts, and social responsibility.
Workers can nominate themselves or be nominated by their employer to participate in the following categories: Achievements, Creativity and Innovation, Continuous Learning, and Social Responsibility.
Outstanding Workforce Award Count:
For each of the 4 categories, there will be 3 winners divided based on professional level (Skilled, Unskilled, and General), totaling 12 awards.
